Six events compete Saturday in the coed state track and field meet in Des Moines.
The girls sprint medley finished 10th with a time of 1:52.19 with senior Kate Sandage, junior Emma Saddoris, freshman Olivia Hansen and junior Emily Christensen. The team topped its season best time of 1:55.59. The 3A girls sprint medley champion is Decorah with a time of 1:48.46. (Race time was 9 am)
Senior Allison Higgins finished in 23rd place in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:18.70. Her season best time was 5:12.34. Winning the 1500 meters in girls 3A was junior Grace Gibbons of Gilbert. Gibbons set a new state meet record time of 4:39.02.
Four events compete Saturday after qualifying in preliminary competition earlier in the week.
The girls shuttle hurdle relay finished 8th in the finals with a time of 1:08.52. On the team were freshman Nadia Fisher, senior Kate Sandage, and juniors Sarah Sandage and Mollie Sorber.
Senior Roman Phillips finished third in the 3A finals of the 100 meter hurdles with a time of :11.18. Winner was junior Tanner Dunkin of Knoxville in :11.03. Phillips’ time in the prelims Thursday was :10.99.
In the 200 meters, Phillips placed fourth with a time of :22.55. Champion was junior Connor Ham of Solon with a time of :22.14.
Kate Sandage finished 6th in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of :16.14. Junior Kelsi Phipps of Mount Pleasant won the race with a time of :15.03.
