The state coed track & field meet continues today at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
Senior Kate Sandage will compete in the finals of the 100 meter hurdles after finishing 5th in the prelims Friday with a time of :15.67. Fastest time was :14.74 from Kelsi Phipps of Mount Pleasant. The finals will be Saturday at 12:35 pm. Junior Eme Johnson qualified for the prelims but did not start the race.
The Greene County boys 4 X 200 meter relay team finished 9th with a time of 1:31.88. On the team were sophomore Max Neese, junior JC Weitl, and seniors TJ Lint and Roman Phillips. Winning the race was Bishop Heelan (Sioux City) with a time of 1:30.06.
The boys 4 X 100 meter relay placed 15th with a time of :44.44. Running were Neese, Weitl, junior Dylan Hamilton and Phillips. The winning time in the heat was :43.55 by Dallas Center-Grimes.
Eme Johnson did not finish the 400 meter hurdle race.
Junior Alex Rasmussen placed 17th in the shot put with his best throw of 46′ 0″. That was his first throw. Second and third throw were 45′ 11-3/4″ and 44′ 4″ respectively. Senior Dalton Ferguson of Solon won the event with a throw of 60′ 3/4″.
The girls 4 X 400 meter relay placed 21st in the prelims with a time of 4:14.25, still 4.7 seconds faster than the teams’ season best (4:19.95). Running were juniors Emily Christensen and Emma Saddoris, and freshmen Nadia Fisher and Olivia Hansen. Wahlert (Dubuque) won in the prelims with a time of 3:56.84.
