Paton-Churdan junior Jake Carey placed 20th with a time of :53.93 in the 400 meter dash in 1A competition at the state coed track and field meet Thursday at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
Winning time in the race was :49.36 from Austin Heitland of AGWSR.
