The Greene County board of supervisors on Monday signed a proclamation naming July as Donor Awareness Month in Greene County and cleared the way for a Token of Love event on the courthouse grounds Saturday, July 19.
MeLinda Madison (center) of Jefferson, an advocate for organ, tissue and bone marrow donation, is organizing the event. It was Madison who drafted the proclamation and presented it to the supervisors for approval. “Through donor awareness may we all remember all of our fellow Greene County residents who have helped give this gift of love and life so that their legacies may live on,” the proclamation reads in part.
Supervisor Guy Richardson (left) has also been an advocate for the Iowa Donor Network and organ/tissue donation. The proclamation was signed by board chair John Muir (right) and the entire board.
