The combined 7/8 girls track and field team finished second of eight teams at the Prairie Valley junior high track and field meet in Gowrie Tuesday.
First place finishes came from Laurin Lyons in the shot put with a throw of 30′ 8″, from Megan Durbin in the high jump at 4′ 11″, and in the long jump at 14′ 3-3/4″, and from Haley Hall in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:56.48.
Finishing in second place were Onica Delp in the shot put with a throw of 28′ 5-3/4″, Durbin in the 100 m dash in :13/81 and inn the 200 m dash in :30.84, and the 800 meter relay of Lyons, Chantel Flack, Lauren Carlson and Neysa Halverson. Their time was 2:07.34.
In third place were the 400 m shuttle hurdle relay (Carlson, Flack, Emily Finch, Sydney Schiltz) at 1:19.76, Melanie Doran in the 400 m dash in 1:10.78 and in the 200 m hurdles in :32.9; the 400 m relay (Lyons, Schiltz, Carlson, Halverson) in 1:19.76, and the 1600 m relay (Finch, Regan Lamoureux, Emma Schroeder, Hall) in 5:00.32.
“Our entire team works so hard to do their best at every meet. We have strength in the field events, hurdle events, and the running events which helps make the girls a dominant team,” coach Teresa Green said. She co-coaches with Roger Olhausen.
