Motorcycle show, poker run to benefit Aktion Club

BTF Poker runThe Bell Tower Festival Cycle Committee is looking forward to the sixth annual Bell Tower Festival Motorcycle Show and Poker Run as the event continues to grow in popularity, drawing participants from all corners of Iowa and near-by states. The committee is organizing events for riders and for those who enjoy just seeing motorcycles.

The poker run route for 2014 will take riders on a 125 mile journey with stops in Perry, Woodward, Ogden, Dayton, and Paton before returning to Jefferson. Doc’s Stadium in Jefferson will be a bonus card stop for Poker Run participants.

Registration can be done in advance online at http://www.btfcycle.info, as well as on site on June 14 from 8 am to 12 pm. The entry fee will be $25 for driver and $15 for passenger, and will include a Poker Run T-shirt (while supplies last) for the driver, a poker hand, and a Pizza Ranch meal ticket. Additional T-shirts and meal tickets will be available for purchase as well.

Participants are to gather at Peoples Trust & Savings Bank as the rally point beginning at 8 am, with last bike out by 12 pm. All bikes must be back by 4 pm. Increased Poker Run prizes of $250 for first place, $125 for second place, and $75 for third place will be awarded. After returning, riders can take a break at the Bell Tower Festival Beverage Garden for their meal and a cold beverage. Beginning at 1 pm, those at the event can enjoy live music, as Planet Rock from Fort Dodge will be performing until 5 pm.

A free motorcycle show will be included with the activities. Registration will be from 9 am to 1 pm, with the show starting at noon and ending at 4 pm. Show classes will include Metric, Vintage (pre-1990s), Peoples’ Choice, Trikes, Custom, and Late Model. Plaques will be awarded as the judging concludes at 4 pm. Additionally, the BTF cycle committee has arranged to have an onsite Dyno, provided by VanWall Powersports at a reduced rate of $30.

Raffle tickets for a chance to win a motorcycle table lift built by the Greene County High School industrial arts students are available for a cost of $20 each or 3 for $50 while supplies last. More information and lift photos are available on the btfcycle website.

As always, all proceeds for this year’s event will go to the Raccoon Valley Kiwanis Aktion Club of Jefferson. “Last year the Aktion Club was the recipient of $500, and with your help, even more will be available in 2014. See you there!,” a spokesperson said.
