Bell Tower Festival art show open to all

skylineFINAL-0416Area artists of all ages are invited to exhibit their original art in the annual Bell Tower Festival art show. “We want to highlight what’s out there. We’ll have all levels of art. Some will be very professional, and there will be other artists who are experimenting or finding their style,” said art show chairperson David Ausberger. “This isn’t the kind of art show where people look at every brush stroke and the artist has to explain what he’s done. This is fun.”

The show is not juried. Art must be presentable; two dimensional art must be ready to hang. There will be places to exhibit three-dimensional work. Art should also be appropriate for the expected multi-generational audience. “We’re really trying to be inclusive and let anyone who wants to show off something do it. Everyone is welcome,” Ausberger said.

Artists are welcome to post a sale price if their art is available for sale, Ausberger added.

The Bell Tower Festival art show will be open Friday, June 13, following the opening ceremonies until 9 pm; Saturday, June 14, following the parade until 7 pm; and Sunday, June 15, from 1 to 4 pm. The Greene County Historical Museum will host the show. “The Historical Society is very accommodating of the art show. We couldn’t be more happy with the museum as our gallery,” Ausberger said.

There is enough space for viewers to move about freely, the lighting is good, and the museum is handicap accessible. “It increases the number of visitors to the museum, and that helps the Historical Society when it comes funding time. It also draws people that might not visit the museum another time. It’s a win-win for the art show and the museum,” he said.

Art should be delivered to the museum Wednesday, June 11, between 1 and 4 pm. The Historical Museum would appreciate art being left on display through July, but artists who are unable to leave their art that long may pick it up June 15 between 4 and 6 pm.
