Ram girls fourth, boys fifth at HOIAC meet

The Greene County High School track and field teams finished fourth on the girls side and fifth on the boys side of the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference meet hosted by North Polk May 12.

The girls won two events. Senior Kate Sandage won the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.12 seconds. Freshman Nadia Fisher was high jump champion, clearing the bar at 5′ 0″.

Second place finishes were earned by freshman Olivia Hansen in the 200 m dash with a time of :27.77, by senior Allison Higgins in the 3000 meter run with a time of 11:23.81, and by the 4 X 100 meter shuttle hurdle relay with a time of 1:10.87. Running the shuttle hurdle relay were junior Eme Johnson, Fisher, junior Sarah Sandage and senior Kate Sandage.

Third place finishes came from Johnson in the 400 m hurdles with a time of 1:11.74, and the distance medley relay team with a time of 4:41.33. Kate Sandage, junior Emma Saddoris, Hansen and junior Emily Christensen ran the race.

The boys had no first place finishes. Senior Roman Phillips was second in the 100 meter dash with a time of :11.20, nine-hundredths of a second behind winner Devin Howard of South Hamilton. The 4 X 200 meter relay team of sophomore Max Neese, junior Dylan Hamilton, senior TJ Lint and junior JC Weitl finished second.

The same team placed third in the 4 X 100 m relay in a time of 45.78. Neese led off, followed by Weitl and Hamilton with Lint finishing. Junior Alex Rasmussen placed third in the shot put with a throw of 46′ 6-3/4″.

Team scores for girls teams were PCM 148, Gilbert 113, Roland-Story 102, Greene County 88, CMB 63, Saydel 54, North Polk 54, Nevada 48, South Hamilton 41 and Colfax-Mingo 29.

For boys, team scores were CMB 152, North Polk 135, Gilbert 115, Roland-Story 63, Greene County 53, South Hamilton 50, Nevada 48, Saydel 43, PCM 34 and C-M 9.
