Greene County eighth grader Megan Durbin placed first at the Mike Henderson junior high girls’ state track meet at Waukee Stadium Saturday. She jumped 4’ 10” to win in a field of 16 girls in the large school class. A total of 26 schools were in the class.
Eighth grader Laurin Lyons placed second in the shot put with a throw of 29’ 8-3/4”.
The shuttle hurdle relay team of Lauren Carlson, Chantel Flack, Emily Finch and Sydney Schiltz finished seventh with a time of 1:18.20.
The entire team did not compete, according to coach Teresa Green. Haley Hall finished ninth in the 1500 meter run in 5:47.00, 16th in the 800 m run in 2:57.41, and 25th in the 400 m run in 1:16.61.
Durbin earned 10th place in the long jump at 14’ 5”, 14th in the 100 m dash in 14.75, and 18th in the 200 m dash with a time of 31.44.
Melanie Doran was the only Greene County seventh grader to compete. She placed fourth in the 100 m hurdles in 18.68 and fifth in the 200 m hurdles in 33.30.
