Cyclists of Greene start weekly rides
All bicyclists under the age of 18 are invited to take their bikes for a free safety check at All Ability Cycles in Jefferson today, Sunday, from 1 to 5 pm. The safety checks are offered as a service by All Ability Cycles owner John Brunow and the Cyclists of Greene club. Bikes will be adjusted as needed and tires will be inflated at no charge; there will be a charge for any needed parts.
Parents are asked to accompany their children, and bike helmets must be brought along to the safety check. The helmets will checked for proper fit. COG has given hundreds of bicycle helmets to children, members want to see them used.
In other Cyclists of Greene news, the club has started its summer schedule of weekly group rides intended to make bicycling an enjoyable group activity.
Club members invite area residents to join them for family rides Sundays at 5 pm. Adult rides are planned for Saturdays at 8 am and Wednesdays at 5:30 pm. All rides will start at the depot on E. Lincoln Way in Jefferson.
Routes will be determined by the participants as they arrive at the depot. The group will decide by consensus how far to go and the direction they’ll take. Experienced bicyclists willing to help less experienced riders will be along on every ride.
There is no charge for the rides. Helmets are strongly recommended, and riders will be asked to sign a liability waiver.
