Winners of Jefferson’s March Mania basketball contest have been announced. Out of more than 450 participants in the community, Amy van der Meer earned the most points in the contest and was awarded an iPad Mini valued at $299.
Bill Ruzicka came in second place and received a Fitbit Flex wireless activity and sleep wristband. Dustin Fouch finished in third, winning $50 in Chamber bucks. Jean Tucker won $50 in Chamber bucks in a random drawing that all contestants were eligible for regardless of standings at the end of the challenge.
van der Meer was asked about her participation in the contest and she responded, “I thought it would be a fun way to participate in the NCAA basketball tournament and the contest was free to enter. I am so appreciative to all of the sponsors. Thank you so much.”
Contest participants were invited to fill out brackets for the NCAA men’s basketball championship tournament and earned points for each game they picked correctly. The contest was conducted online and sponsored by area businesses. Slam Dunk Sponsors included: Ben Franklin/RadioShack, Caleris, Doc’s Stadium Bar & Grill, Greene County Medical Center, Home State Bank, McAtee Tire, Midland Power Cooperative, and Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home. The contest was powered by Jefferson Telecom.
