Parents urged to call now for appointments
The annual kindergarten health clinic for all children who will enter any level of kindergarten in the Greene County schools next August is scheduled for Wednesday, May 7, from 1:30 to 5:30 pm at the elementary school in Jefferson. All incoming kindergartners and their parents are encouraged to attend.
The following screenings and services will be offered:
- Vision screening
- Dental screening
- Hearing screening
- Lead risk screening
- Hemoglobin test
- Immunizations, if needed
- Blood pressure reading
- Height and weight measurements
The examinations are screenings only, aimed at identifying potential problems and if further examination by the family’s regular health care provided is needed.
Donations will be accepted to help cover the cost of supplies used for the clinic. All providers donate their staff time and various supplies. The Jefferson Rotary Club also donates time to assist with the clinic.
“This is a great way to get most of your student’s requirements for kindergarten completed at one time,” said school nurse Ann Hicks RN.
Parents are asked to call the school at 515-386-3178 to make an appointment. The clinic takes about an hour to complete.
