Scranton library project late but moving along

With warmer weather finally arriving in March, work is progressing on the new Marchant Library on the Main Street of Scranton. On Friday, March 7, workers were installing the shingles on the roof. Dogs at large topic of brainstorming at county supervisors’ meeting

Grand Junction mayor Gerald Herrick and sheriff Steve Haupert met with the county board of supervisors Monday to talk and brainstorm about a growing problem – dogs! Every town in the county except Jefferson contracts with the sheriff’s office for law enforcement services. Animal control has become the responsibility of the sheriff’s office, and the number of calls is increasing.

The Jefferson park and recreation department (JPRD) is hosting a pair of fun, one day events. Families can enjoy an afternoon of fun at the Shrine Circus on Saturday, March 22.  JPRD is providing free transportation to the Jacobson Building at the State Fairgrounds in Des Moines and the Shriners are providing free tickets to anyone riding the bus.
