The Animal Protection and Education Charity (A.P.E.) of rural Paton conducted a low cost Spay and Zeuter-neuter clinic for dogs last Sunday at the Grand Junction Community Center in honor of Spay Day. Twenty dogs, ranging in size from Chihuahuas to Great Danes, were altered.

Two veterinarians and several volunteers cared for the dogs that day.  Each dog was spayed or Zeuter-neutered and given vaccinations and a free microchip ID.  All of this was done at low cost. Several families qualified for additional  funds and got their pet altered for as low as $15, and some families got their pet vetted for free.

A.P.E. encourages anyone needing help getting their pets (or free roaming cats) spayed or neutered to contact them. A.P.E. can be contacted at 515-460-7729 or via email at united4ape@hotmail.com.
