Midland Power Coop accepting Youth Tour applications

Deadline is March 7

Midland Power Cooperative, a local electric provider, is offering a chance for two high school students to win a free trip to Washington, DC, June 13 – 19.

The two students selected to represent Midland Power will be a part of approximately 40 students from Iowa to take part in the week-long trip. Youth Tour gives the students a chance to explore our nation’s historic sites, see government in action, and meet more than 1,500 youth from across the nation.

Sophomores and juniors that attend a high school located in or near Midland Power’s service territory are eligible to apply. Students will be sent information about rural electric cooperatives and then will be interviewed the evening of March 25 in Webster City or the evening of March 27 in Ames.

The two students that score the highest on their knowledge of electric cooperatives and their in-person interviews will be selected to represent Midland Power on the trip. Additionally, each of the two winners will get to select a non-athletic club or program at his/her school to receive a $500 donation from Midland Power!

The deadline to apply is March 7.  Go to http://www.midlandpower.coop/ to learn more and to submit an application. Students on the trip will be chaperoned by employees of electric cooperatives. If you have questions about this program, please call 800-833-8876.
