The Jefferson tree committee invites all interested persons to an informational luncheon meeting Friday, Feb. 21, at noon at the ISU Greene County Extension office.
The committee has been in place for many years and is responsible for planting dozens of trees in Jefferson. The group’s regular meeting time is the third Friday of the month over the lunch hour. New members are always welcome.
According to information presented by Lynn Menz and Brad Riphagen at a November city council meeting, the group will be particularly concerned with the future of the city’s ash trees as emerald ash borers are found in more Iowa locations.
Pre-registration by those who plan to have lunch are requested by Thursday by calling the Extension office at 515-386-2138. However, “brown bags” are also welcome.
