The Greene County Rams’ girls varsity basketball team lost 56-25 to Nevada on the road Monday night.
“The girls played a good first half and a disappointing second half. We will have to pick up the pieces and find a way to beat Nevada by Saturday,” said head coach Chad Morton.
The Rams trailed by four points, 23-19, at half-time, but a very cold third quarter from the Rams left them trailing 44-20 at the end of the third quarter.
Marissa Promes and Kayla Mobley each scored six points for the Rams. Jolee Wessling added five points.
The Rams will open 3A regional tournament play Saturday against the Nevada Cubs in Nevada. The Cubs took first place in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. Greene County finished at 8-10 in the HOIAC. The Rams have one more game, a non-conference game in Panora vs. Panorama Tuesday evening. The Rams’ overall record is 9-11.
