Scranton city water was found to be bacteria-free in the first lab tests, city clerk Melinda Hinners reported at 10:30 Tuesday morning.
A second set of required water samples will be sent for testing Tuesday, with results expected Thursday morning. “It is expected today’s samples will also pass the tests. However, it is still recommended you boil your water as a precautionary measure until we receive the all-clear,” Hinners said.
A boil advisory is issued after water service has been shut off due to the increased possibility of bacteria in the water. The Scranton city water was shut off for about four hours Monday morning for the repair of a broken water main in the 400 block of Main St.
