At its January 6 meeting, the Rippey City Council approved several items relating to the Bike Ride to Rippey that is scheduled on Saturday, Feb. 1.
Hardy bicyclists will don their cold weather gear and ride from Perry to Rippey and back on Saturday. The Rippey fire department requested permission to block off Second and Cartwright Streets within one-half block each direction from the fire station so that the BRR riders can maneuver through the area without motor vehicles passing through. The council granted that request and approved a beer permit for the fire department.
The Rippey Lions Club plans to rent the Community Center where the Lions will serve roast beef sundaes to the BRR riders and guests. The council reviewed the Community Center rules and regulations with the Lions Club representative.
The Rippey Library report featured: coffee and Bingo on Jan. 9; memorable events on Jan. 13; draw string bag on Jan. 15; and computer class on shopping online on Jan. 23.
Ken Paxton from Greene County Development Corporation updated the council on the Wild Rose Casino application and upcoming presentations. He stated GCDC is putting together a housing list and job availability list on their website.
