Daffodil sale returns as fundraiser for Relay for Life

The Relay for Life teams from Greene County Medical Center, the NHS Stompers from Greene County High school and the Cancer Crusaders can help those who want to shorten winter. The teams are raising funds for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life by selling cut daffodils.

Teams are taking advance orders now through Feb. 24, with delivery the last week in February and the first week in March. Bunches of 10 daffodils will be offered for $10. Persons who aren’t contacted by a team member can contact Amy Becker at 515-386-0111, Ruth Broman at 386-2188, or Jane Nelson at 386-3563.

Contact points in county towns are Becky Tourte in Paton, Becker in Scranton, the library staff in Churdan, and Peoples Trust & Savings Bank in Grand Junction.

The daffodil sale is possible through a generous donation from Katie Richardson and Fudge’s Flower Shop.

The American Cancer Society raises funds for cancer research, education and patient service which all eventually benefit Greene County residents. By funding groundbreaking research, the American Cancer Society has contributed to many important discoveries that have led to a better understanding of cancer and cancer treatment. Each year the ACS spends approximately $100 million on cancer research. As a result, there are more than 10 million cancer survivors in the United States each year.

The Greene County Relay for Life is slated for April 26. Visit www.relayforlife.org/greenecountyia or use the link posted on GreeneCountyNewsOnline for more information.
