Basketball hoops installed at Scranton city park

The Scranton Betterment Committee finished the city park basketball project Dec. 17.

Scranton Betterment was able to purchase an additional basketball setup for $2,058 to along with the previously purchased hoop. The first hoop was moved from the tennis court and relocated to the city park.

The project was finally completed with great excitement from their fundraising and generous donations by the community and business members. The committee also thanked Neal Squibb and Tom Johnson of Squibb Welding UBBI- Universal Basketball Installation of Scranton, and Doug Hawn for providing additional concrete work for the base of each setup. City employee Jerry Boyd also helped.

The project will add to the extracurricular activities for young and old alike in the community. “We appreciate the ongoing contributions from community and business members which enable us to complete projects such this for community improvements and events,” a Scranton Betterment spokesperson said.
