Tuesday, Dec 31: At 3:11 pm a deputy was dispatched to the 200 block of Elizabeth St in Grand Junction for criminal mischief to a window at the residence.

Monday, Dec. 30: At 7:10 am a deputy investigated a possible check fraud scam for a resident in Grand Junction who received a check in the mail that was determined to be a forgery. At 2:58 pm the chief deputy investigated criminal mischief to a pickup truck parked in the 700 block of E. Hager St in Grand Junction. At 4:50 pm the chief deputy responded to a one vehicle rollover accident on Quaker Ave just north of 243rd St in Grant Township. Timothy Michael Johnson of Jefferson was southbound when he lost control of his vehicle. The 2004 Chevrolet C1500 pickup truck crossed the center line and struck a farm field driveway, causing the truck to roll once. The truck came to rest in a farm field. Johnson was wearing a seat belt but did sustain minor cuts and abrasions from broken glass. He was transported by private vehicle to Greene County Medical Center for evaluation.  At 5:47 pm a deputy was advised of a car-deer accident in the 1900 block of 318th St in Washington Township. Jody Lynn Hoskins of Rippey was westbound when a deer ran into the roadway. Hoskins was not seriously injured in the accident. Damage to her 2005 Ford Escape was estimated at $2,500.

Sunday, Dec. 29: At 8:36 am a deputy was advised of criminal mischief to a kitchen window of a residence in the 700 block of E. Hager St in Grand Junction. At 9:39 am a deputy investigated the report of the rear window of a pickup topper that had been shot with a BB gun in the 500 block of E. Elizabeth St in Grand Junction. At 10:51 am a deputy was advised of criminal mischief to a pickup topper in the 100 block of Elizabeth St in Grand Junction. At 12:20 pm a deputy helped resolve a domestic altercation in the 500 block of S. 11th St in Grand Junction. At 4:28 pm a deputy was called back to that residence and subsequently arrested Rebecca Lynn Chumbley of Grand Junction for criminal mischief and harassment.*

Saturday, Dec. 28: At 3:35 am a deputy was advised of criminal mischief to a car window in the 300 block of 19th St in Grand Junction. At 4:16 am a deputy investigated criminal mischief to another vehicle at 707 Hager St East in Grand Junction. At 4:20 am a deputy while on patrol in Grand Junction discovered a window of another vehicle that had been shot with a pellet or BB gun in the 300 block of Hager St West. At 5:11 am a Greene County sheriff’s office patrol vehicle had its rear window shot and shattered as it was parked in the 400 block of E. Main in Grand Junction. At 7:02 am a deputy was advised of criminal mischief to the windows of two more vehicles that were parked in the 700 block of S. 16th St in Grand Junction. At 7:47 am a deputy was dispatched to the 700 block of E. Hager St in Grand Junction for the report of a car window and a house window shot with a BB gun. At 8:57 am a deputy responded to the 300 block of S. 7th St in Grand Junction for criminal mischief to a van window. At 9:21 am a deputy investigated the theft of personal and household items from a residence in the 600 block E. Main St in Grand Junction. The residence also sustained damage to the vinyl siding from some type of pellet or BB gun. At 10:16 am a deputy investigated another reported car window vandalized in the 600 block of E. Hager St in Grand Junction. At 5:14 pm a deputy investigated the report of a male subject from the 300 block of T Ave in Paton Township who was at the Greene County Medical Center emergency room with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his hand. The male stated he was attempting to ready his firearm for target practice and was not aware the gun was loaded. At 6:16 pm three Greene County deputies investigated a two vehicle accident that occurred on Highway 30 at 222nd St just east of the overpass near Grand Junction. Grand Junction fire and rescue and Greene County EMS also personnel also responded to the scene. Kale Thomas Cummings of Grand Junction attempted to turn onto Highway 30 from 222nd St when he was struck by a westbound vehicle driven by Patrick William Hall of Carroll. Both drivers were transported to Greene County Medical Center for further evaluation. Cummings’ 2012 Dodge Avenger and Hall’s 1995 Chevrolet pickup truck were estimated to be total losses. The accident is still under investigation at this time with charges pending. At 7:54 pm a deputy investigated criminal mischief to a patio door window at a residence in the 800 block of N. 11th St in Grand Junction.

Friday, Dec. 27: At 12:31 am a deputy was dispatched to Churdan for a reported unknown male knocking on doors and asking for help from several different residents in the 600 block of Church St. The deputy located the male and subsequently arrested Louie Mack Brittain of Des Moines for outstanding Polk County warrants. At 2:28 am a deputy investigated criminal mischief to a vehicle in the 300 block of Hager St in Grand Junction. The rear window was broken out of the pickup truck earlier in the evening. At 7:13 am a deputy investigated a second report of criminal mischief to a rear window of a vehicle in Grand Junction.

Thursday, Dec. 26: At 11:47 pm a deputy and the Grand Junction fire and rescue squad were dispatched to a structure fire in the 800 block of Percival St East in Grand Junction. The mobile home at Lot 17 was fully engulfed when fire units arrived. No none was home at the time of the fire, but it was reported that six dogs may have perished in the fire. The state fire marshal’s office will investigated the cause of the fire.

Wednesday, Dec. 25: At 5:08 pm a deputy was advised that the occupants of a vehicle were possibly hunting and shooting pheasants from the roadway. The deputy is also investigating the possibility that the pheasant was taken after shooting hours. At 9:28 pm a deputy was dispatched to the 200 block of Lincoln St. in Scranton for the report of criminal mischief and damage to a door at a residence.

Tuesday, Dec. 24: Routine activity reported.

Monday, Dec. 23: At 3:57 am a deputy, the chief deputy and the sheriff all assisted in locating a reported missing female who had walked from her stranded car to a residence in Paton after attending a Christmas party. Chelsea Ann Wilhelm of Stratford was subsequently found and arrested for possession of alcohol under legal age and transported to the LEC.* At 1:13 pm a deputy was dispatched to the report of illegal dumping of household furniture in the 1600 block of 255th St in Grant Township. The Greene County secondary roads department was notified of the location. At 2:40 pm a deputy was dispatched to a reported electrical fire at a residence in Scranton. The Scranton fire department was also on scene and could not find the source of the electrical smell.

Sunday, Dec. 22: Routine activity reported.

Saturday, Dec. 21: At 8:30 am a deputy investigated a one vehicle accident on Highway 4 and County Road E-57. Nathaneal Paul Kellogg of Carroll was northbound when he lost control of his vehicle and entered the east ditch. Kellogg was not injured but his 1996 Ford Ranger pickup truck was estimated to be a total loss. Kellogg was cited for failure to maintain control. At 9:17 pm a deputy investigated a harassment complaint that was reported received by a resident in Dana.

Friday, Dec. 20: At 5:42 am a deputy checked a vehicle that had slid into the ditch at P Ave and 305th St in Franklin Township. The vehicle was not damaged. At 10:22 pm a deputy was dispatched to the 800 block of 140th St for the report of possible criminal mischief to a residence at that location.

Thursday, Dec. 19: At 10:24 am a deputy investigated a two vehicle accident on Highway 4 at 210th St. north of Jefferson. Ashna Marie Grife of Scranton was northbound on Highway 4 following Fon Jon Murphy of rural Jefferson. Murphy slowed to turn left onto 210th St. Grife struck the rear of Murpy’s vehicle. There were no injuries. Damage to the vehicle Grife was driving, a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am owned by Shawn Gifford of Jefferson was estimated at $5,000. Damage to Murphy’s 2003 Nissan Frontier pickup truck was estimated at $1,500. Grife was cited for failure to stop in a safe assured distance. At 2:30 pm a deputy investigated the cutting down of trees from city property in Grand Junction.

Wednesday, Dec. 18: At 8:45 am a rural resident from the 100 block of 270th St in Scranton Township reported at the LEC possible bullet holes to several windows at his residence. The complainant indicated they appear to have been created by a deer slug.

Tuesday, Dec. 17: Routine activity reported.

Monday, Dec. 16: At 9:08 am the chief deputy and the canine unit Ranger assisted the Boone police department with a search of several school buildings.  At 5:03 pm a deputy was advised of cattle on the roadway west of County Road P-33 on County Road E-26 in Hardin Township. The owner was contacted and arrived to put the cattle back into their pen.

Sunday, Dec. 15: At 9:40 am a deputy investigated a careless driver who deliberately drove through the front yard of a residence in the 1800 block of F Ave in Scranton Township. At 12:45 pm a deputy was advised of a felon with a firearm deer hunting in the southern part of the county. The deputy was not able to locate the individual at that time.

Saturday, Dec. 14: At 2:49 am a deputy, the Jefferson fire department and Greene County EMS personnel were dispatched to a reported one vehicle accident on 310th St between J and K Ave in Greenbrier Township. A 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck owned by Corey Michael Renfer of Carroll was on its left side in the north ditch. Renfer and other unknown passengers were not at the accident scene upon the deputy’s arrival. Renfer was later located and arrested by the deputy on outstanding warrants from Carroll county and for filing a false report of auto theft in Greene County*.

Friday, Dec. 13: At 1:19 pm a deputy was dispatched to the 400 block of 11th St in Grand Junction for a harassment complaint involving a Craigslist advertisement.

Thursday, Dec. 12: At 6:04 pm two deputies investigated a two vehicle accident on Highway 30 at County Road P-46 east of Grand Junction. Annette Joy Gramstad of Rippey was westbound. As she turned south (left) onto P-46, Dennis George Ritchie of Carroll started to pass her on the left. The two vehicles collided. Grand Junction fire and rescue was dispatched to evaluate both drivers. Ritchie was cited for unsafe passing. Damage to his 2001 Toyota Corolla was estimated at $3,000. Damage to Gramstad’s 2006 Dodge Dakota pickup truck was estimated at $2,000. At 6:03 pm a deputy was not able to locate a reported car deer accident near the Raccoon River bridge west of Jefferson. No debris or deer was located by the deputy.

Wednesday, Dec. 11: Routine activity reported.

Tuesday, Dec. 10: At 9:20 am a deputy assisted the Grand Junction EMS in transporting an adult male who had ingested multiples of prescribed medications that were taken without consent from another adult. Charges are pending further investigation.

Monday, Dec. 9: At 6:12 am the sheriff’s office assisted in finding a juvenile female who had walked away from her home in the 1300 block of K Ave in Jackson Township. She was found and transported to the Greene County Medical Center for a frostbite evaluation. At 9:13 am a deputy assisted with the removal of a vehicle that had slid into the ditch on County Road E-57 just east of Cooper in Franklin Township. At 9:36 am a deputy investigated the reported theft of prescription drugs from a residence in Farlin. In 12:25 pm a deputy helped locate a runaway juvenile who had become agitated at the Churdan school building and was later found at a residence in Churdan. At 12:32 pm a deputy was advised of a reported theft of approximately 600 gallons of diesel fuel from a bulk tank in the 700 block of W Ave in Junction Township. The theft is under investigation.

 

Sunday, Dec. 8: At 8:40 pm a deputy investigated a harassment complaint in the 1000 block of State St in Scranton.

Saturday, Dec. 7: At 4:05 pm a deputy put seven calves back into the stock field near Brentwood and County Road E-63 in Willow Township. At 5:37 pm a deputy was not able to located a reported ditch fire on 230th St.

Friday, Dec. 6: Routine activity reported.

Thursday, Dec. 5: At 4:30 pm a deputy arrested Haley Marie Carrick from a residence in the 900 block of Main St. in Scranton for harassment-first degree.*

Wednesday, Dec. 4: At 1:04 pm a deputy was advised of an unoccupied vehicle on Highway 144 just south of 250th St south of Grand Junction. Michael Charles McAtee of Grand Junction slid into the ditch due to icy road conditions. McAtee reported he was not injured and his vehicle sustained little damage. At 1:10 pm the sheriff investigated a one vehicle accident on County Road E-33 just west of I Ave in Bristol Township. Shelly Marie Gilbertson of Scranton was westbound when her vehicle slid into the south ditch due to icy road conditions. Damage to her 1997 Ford Expedition was estimated at $5,000. Gilbertson reported she was going by private vehicle to Greene County Medical Center for evaluation of a possible injury. At 1:23 pm the chief deputy investigated a one vehicle accident in the 1600 block of 305th St in Franklin Township. Susan Dyann Howell of Jamaica slid into the ditch due to icy road conditions. Howell was not injured. Damage to her 2000 Ford Explorer was estimated at $2,000. At 2:39 pm, while returning from the previous call, the chief deputy found a vehicle in the ditch on Highway 4 at 270th St south of Jefferson. The vehicle was unoccupied at the time and there was no visible damage. At 5:21 pm two deputies assisted a Carroll county deputy with investigating the reported theft of three dogs from a residence in Ralston. The dogs were located in Scranton and returned to the owner. At 8:39 pm a deputy investigated a harassment complaint in Churdan.

Tuesday, Dec. 3: At 4 pm a deputy issued a DNR salvage tag for a deer that had been struck and injured on Highway 144 near County Road E-26 in Dana.

Monday, Dec. 2: At 9:54 pm a deputy was advised of a car-deer accident that occurred on County Road E-53 just west of the Raccoon River bridge west of Jefferson. Iona Irene Hoyle of rural Bagley drove her vehicle home and reported the accident. No damage estimate was given.

Sunday, Dec. 1: At 2:50 am a deputy assisted an Iowa State Patrol trooper with securing a vehicle on Highway 30 at R Ave east of Jefferson after the trooper arrested Erin Elizabeth Cain of Boone for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.* At 10:14 am a deputy was advised of a careless and erratic driver on Highway 30 eastbound from County Road N-65 west of Scranton. The driver was evaluated and later released. At 2 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson police department with a shoplifter that was arrested at Dollar General. At 3:47 pm a deputy assisted the Iowa State Patrol with a two vehicle accident that occurred at A Ave and 250th St on the Greene/Carroll County line in Scranton Township. The Iowa State Patrol filed a report.  Stephanie Jay Jensen, 31, of West Des Moines was eastbound on 250th St. She failed to stop at the intersection and struck a northbound vehicle driven by David Vernon McClain, 63, of Boone. McClain suffered minor injuries and was transported by Carroll County Ambulance to Greene County Medical Center. Jensen was cited for failure to obey stop sign and yield right of way. Damage to her 2005 Pontiac was estimated at $8,000. McClain was cited for failure to have a valid driver’s license. Damage to his 2005 Ford F-150 pickup truck was estimated at $13,000. At 7:45 pm a deputy was advised of cattle on the roadway in the 1700  block of County Road E-26 in Hardin Township. The owner of the cattle was notified.

“In all cases when a defendant has been charged this is merely an accusation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.”
