Local favorite Nicole Friess Schilling will join another Jefferson-Scranton graduate, Josh Tuel, in the lead roles in the Community Players of Greene County production of “The Sound of Music” in February.
Friess Schilling will play the role of Maria with Tuel as Captain von Trapp. In the roles of the von Trapp children will be Anna Pound as Liesl, Michael Kennedy as Friedrich, Danielle Johnson as Louisa, Jack Schilling as Kurt, Samantha Hardaway as Brigitta, Madison Hall as Marta and Ava Schilling as Gretl.
At the convent Vicky Stafford will play the role of Mother Abbess, with Emily Stafford as mistress of novices Sister Berthe, Amy Roberts as Sister Sophia, and Stephanie Hall as mistress of postulants Sister Margaretta.
Other roles are as follows: Nic Nelson as Rolfe Gruber, Pastor David Grandon as Max Detweiler, Rebecca Stoeker as Baroness Elsa Schraeder, Curt Nelson as Franz the butler, Linda Nichols as Frau Schmidt the housekeeper, Tim Pound as Herr Zeller and Darren Jackson as Admiral von Schrieber.
“We had so much good talent audition for this show, it was hard to decide who earned what role,” a Players spokesperson said.
Performance dates are set for Feb. 21-23. Information will be posted on the Players’ Facebook page as well as on local media. Tickets will be available in late January.
