Greene County 4-H members and volunteers will be recognized for their achievements and contributions at the annual Greene County 4-H Awards Ceremony, scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 10, at 4:30 pm at the Greene County High School auditorium. The public is welcome to attend.
Awards will recognize 4-H members for their achievements in a variety of project areas, from science and engineering to swine and poultry. Dozens of youngsters submitted their record books this year, which document their work in these projects. Meanwhile, volunteers will receive much deserved accolades as leaders and adult volunteers who have served five, 10, 15, 20, 25, or more years in the 4-H program will be honored. A reception with refreshments will wrap up the evening’s activities.
4-H members are also reminded to finish the online re-enrollment process for the 2013-2014 4-H year. The deadline for re-enrolling is by the close of business (4:30 p.m.) on Friday, Nov. 15.
There will be a late fee of $25 if the online process and the enrollment fees are not turned in on time. If families are having difficulty re-enrolling online, they may set up an appointment with Extension staff to complete the re-enrollment process. New 4-H members are welcome to join at any time during the 4-H year without the late fee penalty.
The 4-H year is off to a great start. “We have seen an increase in enrollment this last year and hope to continue that trend,” said Sarah Jo Reynolds, Greene County Extension’s youth and families coordinator. “I’d encourage parents and youth interested in 4-H to take a bit of their time to attend our awards ceremony and see the wonderful skills 4-H’ers are learning each year.”
