Greene County district court, week ending April 5

In Greene County district court McKensie Rae Bess, 36, of Carroll was sentenced April 3 to seven days in jail after she pleaded guilty at arraignment to a charge of possession of marijuana- second offense. The jail term was suspended and she was placed on unsupervised probation for one year. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. Bess was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge, a $10 drug abuse resistance education (DARE) surcharge and a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge. She must also pay $500 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees. Court costs were $219.67. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. Greene County district court, week ending March 29

In Greene County district court Kaden Mikel Lowe, 19, of Grand Junction was granted a deferred judgment March 22 after he pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal mischief- third degree, amended from trespass causing damage more than $200 and conspiracy to commit non-forcible felony. He must pay a $625 civil penalty and a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge. He and co-defendants are jointly and severally liable for $4,755.08 victim restitution. Greene County magistrate court, week ending March 29

Cases were initiated in magistrate court against Megan Ann Stuhr of Fort Dodge, theft-fifth degree (two separate cases); Randy Robert Lundberg of Jefferson, possession of drug paraphernalia; Dalton Weber of Jefferson, disorderly conduct- fighting or violent behavior; and Benjamin Lee Cahall of Grand Junction, assault.

Police blotter – March 2019

Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Jefferson police department:

Sunday, March 31: At 1:49 pm an officer investigated a one-vehicle property damage accident in the parking lot at White Oak Station. Luis Ortiz of Jefferson backed his 2008 Ford Focus, into the guards around the fuel pumps, causing $500 in damages to the rear of the vehicle. No damage was reported to the guard, or pump. Sunday, March 31: At 1:16 pm a deputy and the Scranton fire department responded to a controlled burn that was out of control in the 700 block of County Road N-65 (D Ave) in Kendrick Township. At 5:21 pm a deputy and the Jefferson fire department responded to a controlled burn that was out of control in the 1800 block of M Ave in Greenbrier Township. Greene County district court, week ending March 22

Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment in Greene County district court as follows: Kylene Suzanne Rabourne, 40, of Grand Junction, possession of methamphetamine; Lauren Marie Schulte, 24, of Jefferson, assault on persons in certain occupations; Shawn Annear, 43, of Adel, domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness, and criminal  mischief- first degree; Branden Gerrick Smith, 42, of Jefferson, eluding, domestic  abuse assault- third or subsequent offense, and possession of firearm as a felon; and Michael Allen Olson, 57, of Jefferson, operating while intoxicated- first offense, and driving while license revoked. Greene County district court, week ending March 15

In Greene County district court Lyle Neil Stork, 56, of Glidden was sentenced March 8 to two years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated- second offense. All but seven days of the prison term was suspended and he was placed on formal probation for two years. He must compete the recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation he has already undergone, and he must complete a community college drinking drivers school. Stork must pay sheriff’s room and board charges for the jail time he serves, as well as a $1,875 fine with a $656.25 surcharge and a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (D.A.R.E.). Greene County magistrate court, week ending March 15

In Greene County magistrate court Michael Allen Olson of Jefferson was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge on a charge of public intoxication. A charge of disorderly conduct was dismissed. Court costs were $60.

A case was initiated against Branden G. Smith of Jefferson on a charge of interference with official acts.
