Greene County district court, week ending Feb. 21

In Greene County district court Devin Julian Villalobos, 18, of Jefferson pleaded not guilty Feb. 21 to a charge of sex abuse- third degree. A trial date was set for May. 12.

A case was initiated against Nicholas Weber, 19, of Jefferson, on a charge of possession of marijuana.

In Greene County magistrate court cases were initiated during the week ending Feb. 21 as follows: Ryan Douglas Patterson of Jefferson, violation of no contact order, two separate cases; Nicole Terese Borkowski of Jefferson, violation of no contact order; and Nicholas Weber of Jefferson, possession of drug paraphernalia.

Saturday, Feb. 29: Routine activity reported.

Friday, Feb. 28: At 5:29 pm the owner of Cambridge Apartments reported the strong smell of marijuana at one of the buildings. The officer is investigating. At 10:29 pm an officer checked on an wanted male subject at a residence in the 600 block of W. Monroe St. They male answered the door and officers immediately smelled burned marijuana coming from inside the residence. Joshua Jeffrey Michael Geigel, 28, of Jefferson was arrested on an outstanding warrant for providing alcohol to persons under age (aggravated misdemeanor)*. Sheriff’s report – February 2020

Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Greene County sheriff’s office:

Saturday, Feb. 29: At 5:37 am a deputy investigated an abandoned vehicle on its roof in the ditch in the area of 300th St and X Ave in Washington township. At 1:49 pm a deputy investigated a harassment complaint in Rippey. At 3:54 pm a deputy assisted the Grand Junction fire department with a small field fire in the 2200 block of 210th St in Junction Township. The fire was extinguished quickly. Greene County district court, week ending Feb. 17

In Greene County district court Richard John Sabus, 56, of Churdan was sentenced Feb. 24 to 10 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. He must pay sheriff’s room and board fees for the time he serves. He was fined $1,000 with a $350 surcharge; both were suspended. Greene County magistrate court, week ending Feb. 17

In Greene County magistrate court Dalton Weber of Jefferson was granted a deferred judgment Feb. 12 on a charge of domestic abuse assault. He must complete the Iowa domestic abuse program at his own expense and he will be on informal probation for one year. Greene County district court, week ending Feb. 7

In Greene County district court Michelle Lynn Anderson, 45, of Mitchellville was sentenced to two 2-year prison terms after she changed her plea to guilty to two counts of identity theft less than $1,000. The prison terms are concurrent to each other and to prison terms in Marion and Polk County cases. Anderson was fined $625 with a $227.50 surcharge on each count; the fines and surcharges were suspended but she must pay a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge on each count. She must also pay $665.32 total victim restitution. The court found her unable to pay restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees and court costs. Greene County district court, week ending Jan. 31

In Greene County district court Caitlin Suzanne Petersen, 31, of Harcourt was sentenced Jan. 27 to two years in prison after she pleaded guilty to theft- third degree, amended from theft- second degree. The prison term was suspended and she was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services (DCS) for two years. She was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge and a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge. She must also pay $627.90 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees and $146.60 court costs. Greene County magistrate court, week ending Jan. 31

In Greene County magistrate court Jason William Sheldahl of Jefferson was sentenced Jan. 28 to seven days in jail on a charge of violation of a no contact order. He will receive credit for time served. Court costs were $90. In a related case, Sheldahl was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge on a charge of false report to public entity. Greene County district court, week ending Jan. 24

In Greene County district court Katie Capri Schafer, 35, of West Des Moines was granted a deferred judgment Jan. 24 after she pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana. She was placed on informal probation for one year and must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense.
