Greene County magistrate court, week ending Aug. 15

In Greene County magistrate court cases were initiated during the week ending Aug. 15 as follows: John Emery Welch of Grand Junction, assault; Janon Lezlie Olson of Jefferson, theft- fifth degree; Brianne Kara Wolf of Grand Junction, assault; and Luke Stephen Peter Pettey of Des Moines, possession of drug paraphernalia.

Greene County district court, week ending Aug. 7

In Greene County district court Tyler John Tassell, 40, of Carroll pleaded not guilty Aug.1 to a charge of operating while intoxicated- first offense. A trial date was set for Oct. 1.

Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Logan Eric Warland, 29, of Fort Dodge has been charged with two counts of burglary- third degree (motor vehicle). Greene County district court, July 18-31

In Greene County district court Randy Isaiah Johnson, 26, of Carroll was sentenced to two days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana- second offense. The jail sentence was suspended and he was placed on unsupervised probation for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Johnson was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge, $600 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees, and $60 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. Sheriff’s report – July 2019

Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Greene County sheriff’s office:

Wednesday, July 31: At 2 pm the sheriff investigated a reported theft in Grand Junction. At 4:09 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in Grand Junction. At 11:08 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Highway 4 near 250th St south of Jefferson. Shannon Funcke, 48, of Jamaica struck a deer with her 2012 Chrysler Town and Country minivan, causing an estimated $2,000 in damage to the vehicle. Continue reading Sheriff’s report – July 2019

Police blotter – July 2019

Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Jefferson police department:

Wednesday, July 31: At 5:44 pm a complainant advised he located three male juveniles sitting in is vehicle in the 300 block of E. Madison St. He had chased the boys off before the officer arrived. The officer is investigating the event. At 7:01 pm an officer investigated a backing accident in the Dairy Queen parking lot. A 2004 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck owned by Robert Irlbeck of Templeton was parked on the west side of the lot. Another patron witnessed a vehicle back into Irlbeck’s vehicle and drive away. The patron gave the officer a vehicle description and plate number for the vehicle. The officer located the 2002 Ford Taurus at the owner’s residence. Kyle Otto advised he was unaware he had struck a vehicle before leaving Dairy Queen. The Irlbeck vehicle had a reported $1,500in damages, while the Otto vehicle had a reported $500 in damages. Greene County district court, week ending July 17

In Greene County district court Anthony Charles Lange, 37, of Ankeny was sentenced to 30 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of burglary- third degree. The jail time is concurrent to jail terms in six Polk County Cases. He was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge; both were suspended. Greene County magistrate court, week ending July 17

In Greene County magistrate court Jeffrey D. Sprague of Jefferson was found guilty at a trial July 17 of harassment- third degree. He was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge. Court costs were $297.36.

A judgment was entered against Marry Jone Eh of Des Moines on a charge of trespass- casino self-exclusion. She was fined $200 with a $70 surcharge and a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge. Court costs were $60. Continue reading Greene County magistrate court, week ending July 17

ISP reports collision at E-57 and Highway 25

The lives of both drivers in a two–vehicle collision Friday morning were saved by wearing seatbelts.

According to information from the Iowa State Patrol, Nikolas Morrow, 29, of Fort Dodge was eastbound on County Road  E-57(290th St) driving a 2009 GMC Sierra. He failed to stop at the intersection with Highway 25 and was struck on the driver’s side by Kevin Wilson, 42, of Lake City. Wilson was driving a 2016  Ford  F150 pickup truck. Greene County district court, week ending July 11

In Greene County district court Tyler James Smits, 26, of Jefferson was sentenced July 11 to one year in prison after pleading guilty to a charge of harassment- second degree, amended from harassment- first degree. The prison time is concurrent to sentenced in two other Greene County cases. The prison time was suspended and Smits was placed on probation for one year. Greene County magistrate court, week ending July 11

In Greene County magistrate court a judgment was entered July 10 against Rick Eugene Tuhn of Grand Junction on a charge of disorderly conduct. Tuhn was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge. Court costs were $60.

Cases were initiated as follows: Malissa Lou Brooks of Jefferson, assault; Carl William Hale of Jefferson, violation of no contact order, two charges, two separate cases; and James Leon Kennedy of Jefferson, interference with official acts, criminal mischief- fifth degree and disorderly conduct.
