Greene County district court, week ending May 7

In Greene County district court Clint Michael Dennhardt, 19, of Ames was granted a deferred judgment May 4 after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated- first offense. He was placed on probation to Greene/Boone County Probation for 12 months. He must complete the recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation he has already undergone, and he must complete a community college drinking drivers school. A judgment was entered for a $1,250 civil penalty, with one-half waived if he obtains a temporary restricted license. Dennhardt has paid the $625 penalty and $140 court costs. Kayden Allen Nelson, 18, of Carroll was sentenced to 30 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating a vehicle without the owners consent. The jail time was suspended and he was placed on probation to Greene/Boone County Probation for 12 months. He was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge. Nelson was sentenced to two days in jail on a charge of possession of marijuana. That jail term was also suspended. He was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge, a $10 drug abuse resistance education (DARE) surcharge and a $125 LEI surcharge. The court ruled he is unable to pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees or court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Vilma Espanola Howlett, 62, of Boone was fined $100 with a $35 surcharge after she pleaded guilty to a charge of failure to comply with a peace officer, amended from OWI- first offense. Court costs were $60. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Lucas Marshall Bravard, 27, of Jefferson was granted a deferred judgment after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of unlawful betting with winnings more than $200 but less than $500. He was placed probation to Greene/Boone County Probation for 12 months. He paid a civil $315 civil penalty and $185 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Jacob R. Vreugdenhil, 23, of Grand Junction, driving while license barred, in two separate cases; Michael C. McAtee, 58, of Grand Junction, domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness; and Matthew John Goff, 46, of Jefferson, assault causing bodily injury or mental illness, and trespass causing injury or damage greater than $300. Trial dates were set for July 21 in every case.

Cases were initiated as follows: Steven Logan Dzuris, 32, of Jefferson, assault on person in certain occupation, driving while license barred, and eluding, with a companion case in magistrate court on a charge of interference with official acts; and also in a separate cases initiated four days later, OWI- third offense.
