Free ‘Stay Independent’ program for adults 60 and older

“Stay Independent: A Healthy Aging Series” is being offered in Jefferson in June by Iowa State University Extension & Outreach.

The series provides research-based information intended to help adults age 60 and older reduce their nutritional risk through lifestyle changes. Each weekly session will include an interactive discussion that includes hands-on activities and taste testing, according to Ann Parker, ISU Extension nutrition and wellness specialist.

The four-week series is being offered Wednesdays, June 3-24, from 10:30 to 11:30 am at the Extension office at 104 W. Washington St in Jefferson. Participants should plan to attend all four sessions. The free program is available to the first nine registered participants.

Persons who want to register for “Stay Independent” should call the Greene County Extension office at 515-386-2138 by June 1.
