Absentee voting in June 2 primary starts Monday

Voters who are registered with a Democrat or Republic party affiliation should have received an absentee ballot request form for the June 2 primary election in the mail this past week from the Iowa Secretary of State. Those who didn’t receive a request form and who want one can request an absentee ballot can request one from the Greene County auditor’s office or go online to https://sos.iowa.gov/elections/electioninfo/absenteeinfo.html to print a form to mail to Auditor, 114 N Chestnut Street, Jefferson, IA  50129. The absentee ballot request can also be put in the drop box on the east side of the courthouse.

Requests must be received by May 24 for a ballot to be mailed.

In-person absentee voting begins Monday, May 4, in the east lobby of the courthouse. Voters may enter by the east door only or vote curbside, as the courthouse continues to be closed to the public until further notice.

In-person voting is Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm. Voters are encouraged to follow public health guidelines. Persons who currently have symptoms of COVID-19 or who have been near anyone with confirmed COVID-19 in the last 14 days should not enter the building.
