COVID cases top 9K in Iowa

The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) on Sunday reported being notified of 528 additional positive cases of COVID-19 during the 24 hours ending May 2 at 10 am, for a total of 9,169 positive cases. There have been an additional 2,932 negative tests for a total of 44,017 negative tests to date, which includes testing reported by the State Hygienic Lab and other labs. Seventy-seven percent of new positive cases  are in the 22 counties where restrictions remain in place.

One new case was reported in Greene County for a total of 11 cases.

According to IDPH, an additional nine deaths were also reported, 378 are currently hospitalized, and 3,325 Iowans have recovered. At this time, 1 in 59 Iowans have already been tested.

According to IDPH the additional nine deaths were reported in the following counties:
Black Hawk County, 2 elderly adults (81+)
Bremer County. 1 elderly adult (81+)
Dallas County, 1 older adult (61-80 years)
Dubuque, 1 older adult (61-80 years)
Polk County, 2 older adults (61-80 years)
Poweshiek County, 2 elderly adults (81+)
