Storms, rainfall, winds and cold wind chills expected

The National Weather Service is predicting a mix of unpleasant weather Wednesday night into Friday morning, with Greene County in an area of slight risk for severe weather Thursday. Damaging winds, large hail and an isolated tornado are possible.

The forecast includes moderate to heavy rainfall Wednesday night through Thursday. Greene County can look for 1 to 1.5 inches of rain.

A cold front will pass through Iowa Thursday evening, causing temperatures to fall rapidly and strong northwest winds. Wind gusts are expected in west central Iowa of up to 40 mph. Temperatures will fall below freezing and light snow is possible.

Friday morning wind chills will be in the single digits in western Iowa.
