Greene County district court, week ending March 13

In Greene County district court Milton Antwine Wright, 38, of Des Moines was sentenced March 2 to 180 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana- first offense, amended from possession of marijuana- third or subsequent offense. The entire jail term was suspended and Wright was placed on informal probation to the Greene County sheriff for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge; both were suspended. Wright must pay a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge, a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (DARE) and $422.62 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)

Austin Tylor O’Connell, 21, of Jefferson was sentenced March 13 to one year in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of unlawful possession of a prescription drug. The jail time was suspended and he was placed on informal probation for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge, a $125 LEI surcharge, a $10 DARE surcharge. A charge of possession of marijuana was dismissed. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignments as follows: Dakota Bradley Barrett, 20, of Dayton, theft- third degree and trespass; Juan Angel Guzman, 32, of Jefferson, theft- second degree, and in a separate case, theft- fourth degree; Dakota Neil Bishop, 26, of Jefferson, forgery; Tanner James Hagar, 25, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana; Kent Allen Poage, 48, of Urbandale, operating while intoxicated; and Nicholas Weber, 19, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana. Trial dates were set for April 7 for Guzman (theft- fourth degree) and Weber. Trial dates were set for May 12 in all other cases.

Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Michael Lee Devilbiss, 35, of Perry is charged with sexual exploitation of a minor and dissemination and exhibition of obscene material to a minor. The warrant was issued in September 2018 and returned March 9.

Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Joshua Geigle, 28, of Jefferson, supplying alcohol to person under legal age; Christopher Brian Long, 27, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana; Jimmy Dale Gibbons, 53, of Des Moines, possession of methamphetamine- third or subsequent offense; Kenneth Lee Molle, 81, of Jefferson, OWI- first offense; Brooklyn Sage Podell, 21, of Grand Junction, domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness and possession of marijuana; and Kaleb Lee Lentz, 25, of Scranton, driving while license revoked.
