Medical center closed to visitors starting Friday

Visitors to all departments of Greene County Medical Center will be restricted effective Friday. The following information was released Thursday afternoon:

“To protect our patients, families and health care workers due to the global outbreak of COVID-19 and influenza, the following restrictions are being implemented effective Friday, March 13.

“Restrictions apply to the entire medical center – acute care, ER, Long Term Care, Greene County Family Medicine Clinic, specialty clinics, outpatient services, imaging, laboratory, Greene County Public Health and every other department.

“Only primary caregivers essential to the care of the patient will be allowed at Greene County Medical Center. Primary caregivers include, but are not limited to:
• Parents/stepparents
• Spouse/significant other
• Other defined caregiver

“Primary caregivers:
• 18 years of age and older (including sibling caregivers)
• Siblings are not allowed unless 18 years of age and defined caregiver
• Always remain in the patient room as appropriate
• Limit movement within the facility and avoid common areas
• Free from illness such as Fever, sore throat, cough, diarrhea, vomiting or runny nose
• Exceptions may be made in certain situations and can be discussed with patient care teams

“Restrictions are temporary and subject to change as necessary.

“Visitors who fit the criteria will need to sign in upon entry. We understand these restrictions may be difficult for you. While we are committed to providing a family-centered care environment, right now restricting visitors is in the best interest of our patients and staff.

“Patients who are presenting symptoms of COVID-19 or influenza are asked to call ahead so staff can plan adequate precautions for the safety of all.

“The Auxiliary Gift Garden will temporarily remain closed. All events 30 days out will be cancelled.
