Greene County district court, week ending Feb. 17

In Greene County district court Richard John Sabus, 56, of Churdan was sentenced Feb. 24 to 10 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. He must pay sheriff’s room and board fees for the time he serves. He was fined $1,000 with a $350 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay up to $600 in court appointed attorney’s fees and court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)

Carla Rachel Lehrkamp, 27, of Scranton was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge after she pleaded guilty to a charge of disorderly conduct, amended from domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness. Court costs were $60. (Sentencing: Magistrate Jessica Morton)

Joshua Leo LeClair, 35, of Churdan was sentenced Feb. 14 to two years in prison after he pleaded guilty to a charge of domestic abuse assault- second offense. He was also found to be in violation of probation on an earlier charge of domestic abuse assault impeding blood/air flow. Probation was revoked and is is to serve the sentence in that case, concurrent to  the newer prison term. LeClair was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge and a $100 domestic abuse surcharge. The court found him unable to pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees or court costs. As part of a plea agreement a felony charge against LeClair of dominion/control of firearm/offensive weapon by a felon was dismissed, as was a case in magistrate court in which LeClair was charged with 14 counts of violation of a no contact order. Jacob Mark Spaulding, 28, of Scranton was sentenced to 30 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of domestic abuse assault, amended from domestic abuse assault causing injury. All but two days of the jail time was suspended and he was placed on informal probation for one year. He must pay sheriff’s room and board fees for the time he served, and he must complete a batterers education;  program at his own expense. He shall not possess firearms, offensive weapons or ammunition. Spaulding was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and a $100 domestic abuse surcharge. Court costs were $321.90. Miller, 25, of Blakesburg, driving while license barred; Terri Loren Riley, 59, of  Boone, possession of methamphetamine; Carly June Hubby, 40, of Jefferson, possession of methamphetamine; Adam Joseph Harvey, 43, of Grand Junction, possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana; Jennifer Kayse Jane Barkalow, 27, of Marshalltown, possession of marijuana; Leigha Irene Welch, 27, of Toledo, possession of marijuana- third or subsequent offense and illegal possession of prescription drug; Robert E. Barnard Jr, 53, of Des Moines, domestic abuse assault display or use weapon; Keith Eugene Schaffer, 64, of Jefferson, driving while license revoked; Melynda Louise Weltha, 44, of Grand Junction, driving while license revoked; Craig Anthony Knobbe, 50, of Carroll, operating while intoxicated- first offense; Terry Ray Anschutz, 24, of Scranton, OWI- first offense; and Rick Eugene Tuhn, 58, of Grand Junction, driving while license barred. Trial dates were set for April 7 for every defendant except Welch. Her trial date was set for March 24.

Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Tanner James Hagar, 25, of  Jefferson, possession of marijuana; Brent Tracy Stoner, 56, of Jefferson, OWI- second offense; Seth MichaelButler, 31, of Jefferson, driving while license barred; Leeroy Dominic Steadman III, 18, of Churdan, telephone dissemination of obscene material to minor; Dakota Bradley Barrett, 20, of Dayton, possession of marijuana and non possess/manufacture methamphetamine with intent to deliver; Joshua Jay Blumberg, 24, of Grand Junction, possession of marijuana- third or subsequent offense and possess/manufacture methamphetamine with intent to deliver; Kent Allen Poage, 48, of Urbandale, OWI- first offense; and Whitney Jean Campbell Perez, 21, of Coon Rapids, manufacture/possess methamphetamine with intent to deliver and possession of marijuana.
