Dangerous cold is on its way

Residents should prepare to take precautions due to a cold front predicted to pass through Iowa Wednesday afternoon and evening. Greene County is in a wind chill advisory for Thursday morning, while neighboring counties to the north are in a wind chill warning.

By late Wednesday into early Thursday wind chills of -15 to -30 degrees are expected in the advisory area, with wind chills of -30 to -40 degrees in the warning area.

Greene County is on the southern edge of a winter weather advisory. Blowing snow may create near-blizzard conditions in northwest Iowa. Also, rapidly falling temperatures could cause a flash freeze on any wet or slushy roads.
