The Greene County Gobblers Hunting Heritage chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation is hosting its annual banquet  Saturday, Feb. 1, in Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds in Jefferson. Everyone is invited to join the group for a fun evening while raising funds for wildlife.

Doors open at 5:30 pm with dinner, catered by Lidderdale Country Store, served at 7 pm. Tickets are available from Fred Long at 515-370-0905 or toast@netins.net. They will also be sold at the door.

Purchasing a ticket includes membership to the NWTF. They are $45 single or $60 per couple. Youngsters under age 17 (called Jakes) are $10. Youth are eligible for a drawing to win a Winchester FXP Hybrid Hunter Shotgun. Of course, a parent or guardian must accompany the youngster.

Sponsors are needed and receive special recognition. The cost of sponsorship is $275. Gun tables cost $800 with many extra perks. Members from other counties are welcome.

There will be a large number of items on both the silent and live auctions. There will also be games to test your skill (and luck) with nice prizes awarded.

Money raised by the organization is used to promote habitat and hunter safety, especially for young hunters.
