Wintry mix may cause travel problems

More snow and temperatures hovering around freezing Wednesday through Friday will  create challenges for travelers in much of Iowa.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for late Tuesday through Wednesday for about two-thirds of Iowa, including Greene County. Precipitation will begin late Tuesday with periods of light snow and a wintry mix at times through Friday.

Roads and highways will become snow-covered or slushy, causing hazardous travel. Some melting is expected to occur during the daytime.

The forecast calls for 3-4 inches of snow through Wednesday night, beginning between 12 and 3 am Wednesday. Additional light snow will continue through Thursday and Friday. Daytime melting will reduce overall totals between the two snow events.
