Ram boys at 1-3 after loss to N. Polk

The Greene County boys played two quarters of winning basketball, but cold shooting that started midway through the third quarter and continued into the fourth quarter doomed them to their third loss of the season Dec. 13 in Alleman against the North Polk Comets. Greene County got off to a good start against North Polk. They led 19-13 after one period, but the Comets rallied to within one point of the Rams at the half, 37-36.

GrCo hung on to the lead in the third which ended 58-55, but a disastrous shooting final frame for the Rams gave the victory over to North Polk 80-67.

It was the first win of the season for the Comets who are 1-3 while the Rams fell to 1-4.

Carter Morton was on target, firing 29 points including three treys and 10 of 11 free throws. Caden Lowmiller and Zach Goff each scored 10 points. Morton pulled down 10 rebounds and had five steals while Nick Breon grabbed eight boards.

The Rams made 39 percent from the field and 64 percent on 14 of 22 from the free throw line. NP shot 60 percent from the field and 59 percent on 19 of 32 free throws. They grabbed 34 rebounds to Greene County’s 25.
