Greene County district court, week ending Dec. 4

In Greene County district court Beth Anne Laurent, 49, of Des Moines was sentenced to one year in jail after she pleaded guilty to a charge of operating a vehicle without owner’s consent, amended from theft- second degree. All but 14 days of the jail time was suspended; the days are consecutive to jail time in another Greene County felony case. She was  placed on  probation with Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. Laurent was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge; both were suspended. She must pay a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge, $1,200 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)

Robert Christopher Jean Thoma Jr, 21, of Scranton was sentenced to 10 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty Nov. 25 to a charge of driving while license barred. He was fined $R625 with a $218.75 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay $100 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Sando Dominic Scuito, 39, of Rockwell City was sentenced to 90 days in jail after he pleaded guilty at arraignment to a charge of possession of marijuana. The jail time was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Scuito was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge, a $110.25 drug abuse resistance education (DARE) surcharge, and a $125 LEI surcharge. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Persons pleaded guilty at arraignment as follows: Luke Stephen Petere Pettey, 28, of Des Moines, carrying weapons and possession of methamphetamine; Samantha Monique Hendereson, 26, of Jefferson, driving while license revoked; Lauren Marie Verle Schulte, 25, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana; George Jason Zepp, 48, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana- second offense; and Kaleb Lee Lentz, 25, of Scranton, operating while intoxicated- first offense. Trial dates were set for Jan. 28 in every case.

Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Michael York Jones, 22, of Castana, OWI- first offense; Esequiel Gonzalez Gusman, 49, of Perry, driving while license revoked (two separate cases); Annette Renee Bohl, 60, of Adel, driving while license revoked; Justin Joe Downs, 34, of Churdan, false imprisonment and burglary- second degree; and Jose Carmen Diaz Corona, 58, of Perry, driving while license barred.
