P-C girls lose hoops opener 46-42 to Ar-We-Va

The Paton-Churdan girls lost their season hoops opener at home Dec. 3 to Ar-We-Va, 46-42. The Ar-We-Va Rockets were up 22-21 at halftime and held a four point lead after three quarters.

P-C’s Tessa Steimel led her team in scoring with 15 points, all of them from 3-point range. Danielle Hoyle scored 12 points and claimed 20 rebounds – 11 of them defensive and nine offensive. Chloe Berns scored nine points including one 3-pointer. Emma Stream and Camryn Paup added two points each. Paup had the best free throw percentage, making one of two free throws.

As a team, the P-C Rockets shot at 26 percent from the floor and 30 percent from the free throw line.

The Ar-We-Va Rockets as a team shot at 31 percent from the floor and 55 percent from the free throw line.

Coach Tom Kennedy’s team is 0-1 on the season and 10-1 in the Rolling Valley Activities Conference.
