The Greene County board of supervisors heard updates on planned projects at its regular meeting on November 12.

Mike Palmer, city administrator for Jefferson, said bids for planned trails will probably be let early next year. This includes a trail to the Jefferson municipal cemetery, landscaping, and improvements to the east entryway to the city. A 10-foot wide trail from the current high school to the Greenewood Road, on the west side of Highway 4 is also planned, along with a 10-foot wide trail on W. Central Ave from Fareway to the water tower near the site of the new high school.

Palmer said the school will be responsible for sidewalks from the end point of the trail onward to the school.

Daubendiek park is also scheduled for improvement to the 25-year-old asphalt trail winding half a mile through the park.

Palmer also said the speaker system around the downtown square needs upgrading so the speakers can be operated remotely.

He reported the realignment of roads for the airport is scheduled to be done by June 2020.
County attorney Thomas Laehn reported on courthouse security needs such as cameras and key cards.

Supervisor Dawn Rudolph reported Middendorf LLC has provided an estimate of $433 for a sewer cleanout line for a third-floor restroom in the courthouse that is currently unusable.

Chair John Muir reported attending a pre-construction meeting with Bolton and Menk for previously approved work in Drainage District 14.

Engineer Wade Weiss reported the previously approved work on the Mahanay Memorial Carillon Tower is being performed. He told the supervisors an additional $840 for silicone tape is needed for joints at the top of the tower.

The board acted as a board of canvassers for the Nov. 5 city and school elections. The results are included in the meeting minutes posted under the Calendar/Agenda tab on GreeneCountyNewsOnline.
