An estimated 125 people supported the Greene County Pheasants Forever chapter at their annual banquet Saturday night held at Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds in Jefferson. It was deemed a success by organizers with more than $7,800 raised through the auctions plus additional funds coming through the games and raffles.

Kevin Devilbiss heads the committee with assistance from Jeff Gorsuch, Mike Minnihan, Fred Long, Susan Cort, Dean Dozier and Steve Cort. A special mention was given to the wives for their baked goods served as dessert as well as other assistance.

The  meal was catered by Lidderdale Country Store. Auctioneering was donated by Kevin Lentz.

Thirteen thermos containers that strongly resembled a shot gun shell were auctioned with the holders entitled to their pick of a large number of prizes including a Winchester 12 gauge shot gun, Mossberg Patriot rifle 300 win. mag, PF cooler bag and knife set, gift cards, and other nice prizes.

Purchasers of thermoses wait while those with better numbers chose their prize.

Of course, the guns were selected by the first numbers drawn.

The live auction netted $5,205. The big draw was a Quigley-Ford rifle scope that will be specially designed for the buyer which sold for $700. A Q-F muzzle loader/shotgun scope brought $350.

Numerous wildlife prints were auctioned along with Iowa State University and University of Iowa memorabilia. A Green Bay Packers autographed football sold for $160.

Reverse BINGO brought participants to their feet. This game is the opposite of the usual game – you don’t want your number called. Amber Richards won the Husqvarna chainsaw and safety gear donated by Greene County Soil and Water.

Major contributors as gold sponsors were Greene County Soil and Water, Kevin and Teresa Devilbiss, Doc’s Stadium in Jefferson, Steve and Julie Karber, Central Iowa Memorials, Mike and Phyllis Minnihan, Mike and Vikki Subbert, Dunkers by Matt, County Wide Electric, Joe Turner, Rick and Karla Janning, Fred and Sandy Long and Fast Lane Motor Parts in Jefferson.
