Healthcare policy topic of program at Thomas Jefferson Gardens

Healthcare policies  is the topic for the first in an intermittent series of educational public policy presentations hosted by the Thomas Jefferson Gardens board.

Carl Behne, chief executive officer at Greene County Medical Center, will be the presenter Monday, Oct. 28, at 5:30 pm at the Thomas Jefferson Gardens and Welcome Center on the southeast corner of the courthouse square in Jefferson.

He will discuss implied meaning and definitions such as “fixing” the ACA, “healthcare for all”, the “public option”, and Medicaid, “bringing it home” to Greene County residents by explaining how the potential policies may impact services at Greene County Medical Center. Reimbursement rates for physicians and other healthcare providers will be part of the overview.

Behne will also touch on the State of Iowa’s privatization of Medicaid and the impact on Greene County Medical Center.

Behne’s presentation will last about 20 minutes, with time following for dialogue and questions from attendees.

The goal of the public policy series is to create an informed and knowledgeable citizenry, as the Thomas Jefferson Gardens board believes that is what Thomas Jefferson envisioned for our country in support of democratic government. democracy of the United States.

Upcoming and additional topics will include water quality, communication/interaction to decrease polarization, and other topics as suggested by the citizenry of Greene County.
