Greene County district court, week ending Oct.17

In Greene County district court Benjamin Anthony Allen, 29, of Jefferson was sentenced Oct. 14 to 10 years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of theft- first degree. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. He was fined $1,000 with a $300 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge. Allen was sentenced to five years in prison on one county of forgery. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years, concurrent to the first probation. He was fined $750 with a $262.50 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay a $125 LEI surcharge on that charge. He must pay $10,725 restitution. Fifteen counts of forgery were dismissed.

In another case against Allen, he pleaded guilty to a charge of theft- third degree, amended from theft- second degree. He was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay a $125 LEI surcharge. No court costs were listed in either case. (Sentencing: Honorable Gina C. Badding)

Persons pleaded not guilty in district court as follows: Milton Antwine Wright, 37, of Des Moines, possession of marijuana- third or subsequent offense; Scott Randolph Luke, 31, of Garner, theft- fourth degree; Christopher Hollis Christian, 39, of Marshalltown, driving while license barred; Brian Douglas Hunter, 57, of Scranton, assault while displaying a dangerous weapon; Kolbe Richard Hunter, 19, of Scranton assault while displaying a dangerous weapon; Christopher Michael Andrew, 22, of Scranton, operating while intoxicated- first offense; Maurice Darshaun Johnson Wigley, 26, of Fort Dodge, possession of marijuana- second offense; Garrett Rysavy, 21,of Jefferson, OWI- first offense; and Robert Christopher Jean Thoma Jr, 20, of Scranton, driving while license barred. Trial dates were set for Dec. 10 in every case.

Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Caitlyn Day, 27, of Paton, criminal mischief- third degree; Elisha Zechariah Hiram Ward, 19, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana- first offense; Richard Dean Finch, 83, of Jefferson, OWI- first offense; and Shane Christopher Jewett,43, of Paton, OWI- second offense.
