Rams keep rolling with 26-0 win over Trojans

The Greene County football team remains unbeaten on the season with a victory over Atlantic Friday night. The Rams punished the Trojans 26-0 to move to 7-0. Atlantic falls to 2-5.

The Rams host winless Red Oak this Friday in the last home game of the regular season.

The Rams led 13-0 after the first period and 20-0 at halftime. They scored a final TD in the third quarter for the 26-0 victory.

Greene County’s offense was again strong as they collected 125 yards rushing and 228 receiving for a total of 353 yards. They limited Atlantic to 77 yards on the ground and 74 through the air for a total of 151 yards of offense.

The Ram passing game clicked on all cylinders as quarterback Brent Riley completed 19 of 36 attempts for 228 yards and four touchdowns. Cael Fisher kicked two PATs.

Riley threw strikes to Nick Breon for a seven-yard score; Will Hansen, 14-yard TD; Carter Morton, a 15-yarder, and Jaxon Warnke, a 41-yard touchdown. Hansen also had five receptions for 50 yards and Morton added 68 yards on six catches.

Colby Kafer pounded out yardage on the ground, picking up 72 yards on 24 carries, eclipsing 1,000 yards for the season. He has 1,038 yards rushing with at least two more games to be played. Breon added 51 yards on seven rushes.

The Rams were whistled for 10 infractions, resulting in the loss of 73 yards.

Leading the defense were Hansen with four solo and two assisted tackles and an interception. Breon had two solo and five assisted tackles, a quarterback sack and a fumble recovery. Bradyn Smith and Jackson Morton had 3.5 total tackles. Carter Morton notched an interception, Tyler Miller had a fumble recovery and Cole Betts sacked the Trojan QB.

Fisher kicked off five times for 222 yards. Nathan Black punted twice for 55 yards. Carter Morton added three yards on a punt return.

Greene County and OABCIG (Odebolt-Arthur-Battle Creek-Ida Grove) lead the district with 3-0 records, setting up a clash for the championship on Oct. 25, the last game of the regular season.
