Greene County Singers slate concert for Sunday

The Greene County Singers’ fall concert, ”Why We Sing,” is set for Sunday, Oct. 20, at 3 pm at Central Christian Church in Jefferson.

The Greene County Singers are celebrating their fourth year of singing together. The choir was formed in 2015 and has 28 to 30 members. They are based in Jefferson but have choir members who participate from all over the county.

Members of the choir are a volunteer group, friendly and many of the choir members have sung together for a number of years at one time or another. The choir sings from a mixed genre of secular and sacred music, favorite show tunes, patriotic pieces, a bit of pop music, classical choral works, traditional pieces etc. The Singers have their “season” from February through December. There are usually two to three concerts a year with some special performances scattered throughout the season.

The choir is under the direction of Sheilah Pound with accompanists Wendy Vander Linden and Michelle Fields. Rehearsals are on Sunday evenings from 5 to 6:30 pm at Central Christian Church.

The Greene County Singers are looking to increase its number of members and would like to welcome new and returning singers (high school on up). All voice ranges are welcome (SATB) with a special nudge to tenor and bass voices.

If interested in singing with the county choir, an open invitation is extended to you. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have questions. Contact: Sheilah Pound 515-391-0558 or smfailte@gmail.com
