Greene County district court, week ending Oct. 9

In Greene County district court Dale Edward Ganoe, 41, of Jefferson was sentenced Oct. 2 to 21 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness, amended from domestic a sue assault- second offense. He was fined $325 with a $110.25 surcharge. He must also pay $32.50 sheriff’s fees. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B . McCarville)

John Taylor Roberts, 21, of Grand Junction was sentenced to two years in prison after he pleaded guilty to one count of criminal mischief- third degree. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. Roberts of fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge. The judge ruled Roberts is unable to pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees or court costs. Roberts was initially charged with four counts of criminal mischief- fourth degree. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Kole Alexander Higgins, 25, of Grand Junction was sentenced to 14 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. The jail term is consecutive to the term in another Greene County case. Higgins must pay sheriff’s room and board fees of $672. He was fined $1,000 with a $350 surcharge; both were suspended. James Leon Cunningham, 44, of Jefferson was sentenced Oct. 1 to one year in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of methamphetamine- second offense. All but seven days of the jail term was suspended. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay a $10 drug abuse resistance education (DARE) surcharge and a $125 LEI surcharge. On a charge of assault on person in certain occupation he was sentenced to seven days in jail. He was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge; both were suspended. No court costs were entered. Shawn Allen Ellsbury, 51, of Boone was sentenced to two years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of harassment- first offense. The prison term was suspended. He was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge; both were suspended. The judge ruled Ellsbury is unable to pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees or court costs. Brianne Kara Wolf, 28, of Grand Junction was sentenced to seven days in jail after she pleaded guilty to a charge of assault causing bodily injury, amended from assault while displaying dangerous weapon. She will receive credit for time served. She was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: McCarville)

In a separate case Wolf was sentenced to one year in jail after she pleaded guilty to a charge of assault on person engaged in certain occupation, amended from assault on person in certain occupation with intent to inflict serious injury. All but 28 days of the jail time was suspended. This term and the term in the above a case are consecutive. Wolf was placed on probation for two years. She was fined $650 with a $227.50 surcharge; both were suspended. No court costs were entered in this case. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignments as follows: Kelvin Eugene Miller, 19, of Boone, possession of marijuana- first offense; Logan Lee Staley, 28, of Webster City, burglary- third degree and theft- second degree; Brett Tyler Adams, 33, of Webster City, ongoing criminal conduct and theft- first degree; Christopher Michael Andrew, 22, of Scranton, operating while intoxicated- first offense; and Robert Christopher Jean Thoma Jr, 20, of Scranton, driving while license barred. Trial dates were set fort Nov. 5 for Miller and Adams, and for Dec. 10 for Staley, Thoma and Andrew.

Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Kole Alexander Higgins, 24, of Grand Junction, theft- second degree, and in a second case, burglary- third degree;; Devin Julian Villalobos, 18, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana- first offense; Ryan James Brown, 47, of Jefferson, theft- fourth degree; and Clint Michael Dennhardt, 18, of Ames, OWI- first offense.
