Kiwanis Club helps with Russell Park shelter facelift

The shelter and restrooms at Jefferson’s Russell Park have a fresh coat of paint thanks to a grant from Diamond Vogel Paint and financial assistance from the Jefferson Kiwanis Club.

The Jefferson park and recreation department received a grant from Diamond Vogel Paint for five gallons of paint. The Kiwanis Club decided to help financially with having the paint applied.

Kiwanian Vern Foje spearheaded the project and made sure the restrooms were painted. The club hired local painter Gary Goodwin to power wash and paint the shelter. The project was completed Sept.30.

“This is a popular park for residents to use for birthday parties or family picnics,” JPRD director Vicky Lautner said. “I am very grateful to the Kiwanians for taking such pride in our community and helping with this project in this park in the middle of town.”
