Variety – The Children’s Charity of Iowa, netted $785 via a winning bet placed as the ceremonial first bet at The Draftkings Sportsbook at Wild Rose Casino in Jefferson.

The Draftfkings Sportsbook at Wild Rose opened with a ribbon cutting and speeches Thursday afternoon, Oct. 3.  The ceremonial first bet was placed by Dennis Gibson, an Iowa State University  defensive standout who went on to play with the Detroit Lions and the San Diego Chargers.

During his stint with the Chargers, Gibson made a game-winning stop in the 1994 AFC Championship game against the Pittburgh Steelers to help put the Chargers in their first (and only) Super Bowl appearance.

Gibson, who returned to his hometown of Ankeny, placed a $500 bet on the Iowa State Clones to win over Texas Christian University.  That first bet was a good one, with the Cyclones topping the TCU Horned Frogs 49-24.
