Greene County district court, week ending Sept. 26

In Greene County district court Bryce Colton Murano, 21, of Woodward was sentenced Sept. 25 to two days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated- first offense. He must pay sheriff’s room and board fees for the time he serves. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense, and he must complete a community college drinking drivers school. He may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of the jail time and community college course.

Murano was fined $1,250 with a $437.50 surcharge; one-half will be waived if he obtains a temporary restricted license. He must also pay a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (DARE). Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: Honorable Robert B. McCarville)

Carl William Hale, 65, of Jefferson was sentenced to one year in the county jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of stalking. All but 46 days of the jail term was suspended and he was given credit for time served. He must pay sheriff’s room and board fees for the time he served. He was placed on probation for two years. Hale was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay a $100 state stalking surcharge, and restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and court costs to be determined. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Scott Randolph Luke, 31, of Garner has been charged with theft- fourth degree. The warrant was issued 8/27 and returned 9/11.

Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Laurann Joyce Perry, 23, of Perry, driving while license barred; Robert Christopher Jean Thoma Jr, 20, of Scranton, driving while license barred; and Joel Robert Simpson, 64, of Jefferson, OWI- third offense.
