Pedersen, Uebel win Amazing Race for Charity

Eighteen teams participated in the Amazing Race for Charity Saturday morning, testing not only their strength and fitness, but also their smarts, their willingness to try new things, and even their dance moves.

The winning team was Adam Pedersen and Nikki Uebel, who finished the race in 2 hours, 9 minutes. Jeri and Mike Cunningham finished in second place with a tie of 2:11, and Kassie Lamoureux and Julia Saul finished in 2:15.

Lamoureux and Saul edged out Andrew Michaelsen and Karen Shannon by less than a minute. Michaelsen and Shannon were the first team to cross the finish line, but at Michaelsen’s urging they had taken a calculated risk and forfeited the last challenge. That challenge was to learn and perform a short dance routine on the History Boy Theatre stage. They made it to the finish line in 1:56, but a 20 minute penalty for not completing a challenge gave them a time of 2:16 and gave the “youngsters” the third place trophy.

All proceeds from the Amazing Race for Charity went to the building fund for a new Greene County Animal Shelter.
